Temple University’s 136th Commencement

Congratulations, Class of 2023!

After having had their lives on campus abruptly paused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of their first year as Owls, the Class of 2023 has displayed an exorbitant amount of flexibility and strength over the course of their college career.

During their Commencement ceremony at the Liacouras Center on May 11, 2023, they got a chance to recognize everything they’ve overcome to get here. They were welcomed by acting President JoAnne A. Epps and received words of admiration and encouragement from Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Faculty Senate President Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon and Provost Gregory Mandel. They smiled and cried in the glow of the support from family, friends, staff and faculty in attendance. They took the chance, amid celebration, to reflect on how everything they’ve been through prepares them for everything that lies ahead.
